OPPO has officially announced its new Reno3 phones which have been heavily leaked the past few weeks.
One of the most interesting aspects of the release is that the Reno3 will be the first phone to use the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC. It is also a little odd because on paper the Dimensity 1000L looks like a superior chipset compared to the Snapdragon 765G found on the Pro model.

Oppo Reno3 Pro Specification
The Reno3 Pro has a 6.5” OLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole selfie camera. The panel has a 180 Hz touch detection rate for less lag and better gaming. It also comes with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10+ support.
On the rear of the phone is an impressive camera arrangement with 8 MP ultrawide-angle + 48 MP main + 2 MP Black & White + 13 MP telephoto shooter. The Pro is capable of 5x hybrid zoom and 2x optical.
This phone will use the Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset from Qualcomm which has two Arm Cortex A76 cores and six A55 cores with an Adreno 620 GPU.
You get a 4,025 mAh battery with 30W VOOC 4.0 support. It goes from 0 to 50% in 20 minutes, and 0 to 70% in half an hour.
This will come in four colours, White, Black, Starry Night Blue, Sunrise. The base model is 8GB RAM and 128GB storage for CNY3,999 ($570/£439) that goes on pre-order on December 31. The 12/256 GB version is CNY4,499 ($640/£494) and is coming on January 10.
There will then be a special Pantone 2020 edition which comes in Classic Blue and this has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage and sells for CNY4,199 ($600/£461).

OPPO Reno3 Specification
Moving onto the none-Pro model, the Reno3 has the same sized 6.5” OLED screen but this uses a waterdrop notch vs a punch-hole, however, you get the same spec 32MP camera.
For the rear camera, you get a 64MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, a black and white sensor and a portrait camera.

It is the chipset that is interesting here though, because the Mediatek Dimensity 1000L has four Cortex-A77 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores in the CPU, while the GPU is Mali-G77. The chip manufacturer calls it “World’s fastest sub-6GHz 5G SoC” because it can reach up to 4.7 Gbps performance and supports the full range of networks from 2G to 5G.
Oppo promises the Reno3 will be up to 20% faster than a platform with Cortex-A76 cores, which is no doubt a reference to the Snapdragon 765G. The chipset will also be even smarter thanks to a custom APU 3.0, coupled with the chipset.
The Reno3 also comes with VOOC 4.0 quick charge for the 4,025 mAh battery.
This will be available in same main colours as the Reno3 Pro, and prices start at CNY3,399 ($485/£373) for the 8/128 GB option and CNY3,699 ($530/£406) for the 12/128 GB variant.
